dentipur special tape All denture wearers with no natural teeth to hold the lower denture reliably know how difficult the fixation of the lower denture is. The pressure to be exerted by the lower gum is about 5 times more than the pressure of the upper gum. This high pressure acts on a relatively small surface. This results normally in sore spots caused by pressure originated by micro-frictions between the hard material of the denture and the mucous membrane, in particular caused by lateral friction while eating. A reliable product to secure the lower denture is therefore vital.

For the development of dentipur adhesive tape a basic fact had to be taken into consideration: the solubility of the highly-molecular adhesive materials. In other words: a very thin layer of adhesive has an excellent adhesion right at the beginning but dissolves rather quickly so the time of adhesion is short. Furthermore it is known by experience that the uniform application of the adhesive by the denture-wearer is difficult as in this case only a tiny quantity to obtain a very thin layer of adhesive is required, and this is not easy to achieve. Too thick layer of the adhesive drastically reduces the adhesive power and the excess is quickly swallowed.

The patented dentipur adhesive tape, developed carefully over several years, has the benefit of overcoming these inconveniences.
The adhesive is linked to a specially developed texture tape of cotton. The cotton threads have an extremely wide surface. Between the threads is sufficient space to allow a perfect positioning of the adhesive. Thus the tape has not only a permanent flexibility but also allows a perfect adaptation to the lower denture. It can be shaped in the three dimensions.

The proper fixation effect consists primarily to ensure a better situation for the pressure on the mucous membrane and the lower denture during vertical masticating. The adhesive remains in the gaps of the texture of the tape and cannot escape during the lateral movements while chewing. During the vertical chewing process a small amount of the adhesive always moves downwards from above which increases the longevity of the hold and continuos even when the contact layer between mucous membrane and adhesive tape has dissolved. This effect reduces almost completely the micro-friction between the mucous membrane and the pressure spots.

special tapeMoreover as the saliva flow goes from the mucous membrane towards the lower denture the adhesive tape - after the dissolution of the contact layers - adheres to the denture not to the mouth.

The positioning of dentipur adhesive tape is relatively simple. Even elderly denture-wearers can easily apply it themselves without any problem. Changing the adhesive tape is relatively easy.

A further advantage of the product is that the major part of the proper adhesive stays within the tape and is not ingested.
